Lassiter Lacrosse Pays Tribute to Seniors on Senior Night

On Friday, April 13, before our region game with Pope, the Lassiter Lacrosse community paid tribute to the 2018 graduating players and managerial staff.  What follows is the transcript of the pre-game Senior Night ceremony:

Ladies and Gentlemen, if I can direct your attention to Lutzie Field, We would now like to take the time to honor our 11 senior student athletes and their families for their great dedication to Lassiter High School Lacrosse and our community.  Each young student has taken a different lacrosse path to get to this moment, but they have all arrived at the same place here at Lassiter through their hard work, positive attitude, and perseverance.

We will start by honoring our two Senior Managers, Savana Stewart and Maggie Harrison.

First we have Maggie Harrison, who started managing this past fall when she came to help with our fall lacrosse league.  Joining Maggie on the field are her parents, Cass and Steve Harrison.  Maggie will be attending Kennesaw State University in the fall, and studying business, with plans to go into medical sales.  Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Lohlein, and her favorite Lassiter memories are homecoming week each year.

Next to Maggie is Savana Stewart, who is our veteran lacrosse manager, having managed our JV and Varsity teams for the past 3 years.  With Savana is her mom, Diane Marran. Savana will also be attending Kennesaw State University in the fall and will study Marketing.  Savana’s favorite teacher is coach Welch, and her favorite Lassiter memory is being on the field and watching the boys win the State Championship last year.

Our first player to recognize is #3, Sami Obeidat.  Sami is joined on the field by, Te Rimmer, Paul Callahan, Firas, Cori, Zack and Zara Obeidat.  Sami will be attending Georgia College in Milledgeville in the fall.  His favorite teacher is his chemistry teacher, Miss Lee.  Sami’s favorite Lassiter Memory is winning a ring with his boys last year.

Next is #4, Colvin Prosser.  Colvin has recently earned the nickname Peg Leg.  He is joined on the field by his Mom Alison and his brother Damien.  Colvin will be traveling north in the fall to play lacrosse and attend college at Howard Community College in Columbia, MD.  His favorite lassiter teacher is Coach Burden, and Colvin’s greatest high school memory is winning the state championship last May.

Our 3rd player is #10, John Michael McCormack.  With JM on the field are his father, John, mother Susan, and sister Kelly.  JM will be attending Mercer University in Macon, GA in the fall, where he will play lacrosse and study business.  His favorite teacher was Coach Leezer, and his favorite Lassiter Memory is the bus ride home after winning the state game last year.  JM’s favorite phrase is GO TROJANS!

Next to JM is another midfielder, #15 Chase Branch.  Chase is joined on the field by his parents, Jeff and Beth.  This fall, he will be attending the University of Florida in Gainesville, and studying Engineering.  His favorite subject is science, and Chase’s favorite Lassiter memories are scoring touchdowns this season here at the Frank.  Chase would like to thank all the teachers, coaches, and family members who have shaped him into who he is, and for helping him have a memorable high school career.

Our 5th player tonight is #18, Zach Parsons.  Also known as ZP, or Gator.  With ZP are his mom Joan, Sister Claire, Brother Nate, and grandma.  This fall Zach will be attending Georgia College in Milledgeville.  His favorite subject at lassiter has been Human Geography, and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Schneider. Zach’s greatest lassiter memory is winning the state championship in 2017.

After Zach we have #20, Aidan Stark, who is joined by his Mom and Dad, Tracy and JP, and his brother Sean.  Aidan will also be going to Georgia College in the fall, and plans to major in Architecture.  His favorite teacher is Senora Hotle, and his favorite subject at Lassiter is Spanish.  Aidan’s favorite LHS memory is winning state with the guys he has played with his whole life.

Our 7th player being recognized is our senior goalie, #21, Dom MacJack.  Joining Dom are his parents Tracey and Chad, and sister Brenna.  Dom will play lacrosse and attend school in the fall at Newbury College in Brookline, Massachusetts.  His favorite subject is history, and favorite teacher is Coach Gaines.  Like so many others, Dom’s favorite LHS memory is winning the 2017 Georgia State Championship.  A favorite phrase of Dom’s is from Wayne Gretzy – “You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take!”

Up next is #22, Justin Edwards. On the field with Justin are his parents Jon and Melissa.  Justin plans to attend Roanoke College in Salem VA in the fall, to play lacrosse and study business.  Justin’s favorite teachers and coaches at Lassiter are Dr. Shildneck and Coach Goddard.  His favorite Lassiter memory is being able to always hold the title of 2017 Lacrosse State Champions. And…..according to Justin, and Ricky Bobby, “If you ain’t first, you’re LAST!!!”

Our 9th and final senior player is #55, Choice Mostellar.  With Choice are Mom and Dad, Amy and Tide, and brothers Ben and Murphy.  Choice will be attending St Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA, where he will play lacrosse and study data analytics and business intelligence.  His favorite subject at Lassiter is Math, and his greatest Lassiter memory is winning the state championship last year, and scoring the first goal in that game.

Please join me in showing these fine young men and women and their families how much we appreciate their hard work, and wish them well in their college endeavors and beyond.
