2018 Best Summer for All DOT Age Groups

The Defenders of Troy (DOT) 2018 summer season has concluded with a strong finish at the Asheville Lacrosse Classic across all age groups; the Varsity team won their 3rd straight championship, finishing 17-0 for the summer.

Below is note from Adam Bruckman, Lassiter Lacrosse Director of Lacrosse:

I just wanted to send a quick note to thank you all for a wonderful summer season. I’m so proud of the effort, level of play and most importantly the sportsmanship that our teams displayed across all our age groups. While it’s not about the W and Ls, this was by far our most competitive season since we began DOT as a Trojan summer program 6 years ago. In Asheville this weekend our teams went a combined 15-5-1 with our Varsity team winning the A bracket championship, our JV and u9 teams finishing as tournament runner-ups and our u11 and u13 teams finishing 3rd. That’s quite a weekend for a feeder program from one community competing against primarily select and tryout teams from across the Southeast. And special congratulations to our Varsity boys for finishing the summer with a perfect 17-0 record and 3 championships- way to go boys!

What I’m most proud of is the way our parents, players and coaches represented Trojan nation both on and off the field. Throughout the weekend I heard wonderful comments from opposing programs (coaches and parents) about our clean style of play and sportsmanship, both on the field and from our parents on the sideline. Thank you for supporting and representing our Trojan program so well!

Finally, I’d like to thank our high school coaching staff and all our young coaches who previously played in our program and have come back to work with our young Trojan players. I thought our players responded extremely well to the energy of our coaching staff as all our teams seemed to improve throughout the short season. Our goal with DOT has always been to help bring our youth and high school programs together as we look to build upon our strong community and culture, and continue to establish Lassiter and Trojan Youth Lacrosse as the premier lacrosse program across the state. I think we took a big step forward in all those aspects this summer season.

Thank you all once again for your support of our Trojan program. I hope you have a wonderful remainder of the summer and I look forward to seeing you all next fall and spring. Go Trojans and DOT!!
